Saga Frontier (square 1997) (ntsc-j)

Toh, who suffers! Interview with Maurizio Roll

Perhaps those who do not follow the story of a very long time Virtus not remember, or do not know precisely who he is, but for all others that have the Virtus in the heart for a long time now, he is one of the protagonists of one of the happiest and most memorable seasons of the still brief history of our society. We are talking about Maurizio roll, play-maker, who was on the roster that won the championship of C1 in 2005/2006, after a series of matches (see the series final against Massafra) that would explain to those who do not follow basketball because you can come to love this sport.
name.
Mauritius.

Surname.
Rotolo.

Hello Maurizio. It 's been really long time since that historic June 8, 2006, the day on which the Virtus won the B2, and day of your last game Molfetta. How did you spend these years? Where have you played and how your season went?
A warm hello to you and all the fans of Virtus Molfetta. After the great win Championship with Virtus c1 at 20yo, I have continued my career in the ranks of Artusi Maddaloni in B2, reaching a peaceful salvation. The following year I returned to the top of Libertas Puglia Taranto, a company that (as in C1 Castellaneta had done when I was 17-18 years old) has bet heavily on me entrusting the control room. That season ended with a heart-pounding salvation but personally it was good, with a good average points and assessment. Then last year I came nell'ambiziosissima Francavilla Fontana, Brindisi company that had a lot invested in the first year despite being in C1. The season ended with a 9th place in April and then we were all at sea. This too was an important season for me, in whom sleep matured a lot. Then this year I started Sarno, always c1 .........:-(

Since you went away some time in the past six Molfetta?
4 years have passed since that day but Molfetta has remained in my heart ... I have many friends and friends because they are almost obliged to come back every now and then! In addition to former teammates have been in contact with Joseph Gesmundo, Altamura and Cosimo Michael Cecchini, big companions adventure! But for the rest
are also a great fan of Virtus, so there have been many occasions when I went back to PalaPoli to cheer for my former team!

What is your fondest memory of the various teams where you been? And what is your best memory in the Virtus?
When you are so beautiful stars of a sport like basketball is unavoidable to have so many beautiful Remember, even I can say that I only have good times in mind. Not one in particular. For example, there is nothing more beautiful than to win away and celebrate with the team and the fans in roadside restaurants or bus, or get a salvation to the last game available (adrenaline and tension with a thousand stars!).
The year we won a lot at Virtus, weeks on weeks of enthusiasm and desire to win every time! But I could never forget, even though I was not in the field, the emotion I felt when, at 30 seconds from the end of extra time with the end of Game 5 of Massafra, we were on with ball in hand, we were one step away from the well-deserved victory Championship ... Moments in which I flowed in mind the highlights of the season I thought about all the sweat poured out for up to there and that could be repaid by the final victory, which came, and at that time not understood anything! And then all the festivities, from the cutting of the retina around the city on the "bandwagon" with the fans, the parade through the streets x Molfetta, champagne it was raining! With the final dinner together at 4 am ... a DREAM! As well as for me, I believe it was the most beautiful page of basketball Molfetta, partly because the whole audience was participating in a jump in class living it on the field Sunday after Sunday, with victory on the field, without repechage .... and I assure you there is no comparison between the minimum to win the championship on the field and move up!! We were the only ones to win a championship in Molfetta!

What part of your career you will not forget easily? And what in Molfetta in the game?
will not be easy to forget my first meeting in B2, my first "bomb", the first victory of a
championship, but honestly, the game that may never be able to repeat more and never forget was with Castellaneta (my hometown team in C1: victory at San Giorgio del Sannio, I made 32 points with 8 / 9 from 3 and I was only 18 years, I was unconscious!
A Molfetta instead I have 2 games in mind, who then scored both the turning point. Race 2 of the first round of the playoffs in Ceglie, after losing the first at home unfortunately, we could only win to continue the dream ... we had a perfect game made up of both heart and we won! And then one of the final race with Massafra at home, we were under the 17-18punti, we managed to remount and win a game that changed the future of Virtus!

What the person to whom you have been more tied in career? And Molfetta?
I grew up basketball in Castellaneta, in the glorious years where we had the highest square Puglia talking basketball. The only team that appeared in well B2! My youth coach Gaetano Compagnone (current coach of Castellaneta) was the most important person to me, then I still had so many great teammates, but I have a relationship with Jambo Moliterni almost brotherly. We played many, many years together!
A Molfetta were a great group, we went out together ... always Lillo, Teo, Maggi, Varisco, Tommasini, Gesmundo, Bonaiuto, Sergio and Filianoti Carolillo: they had become my second family, but I must admit that I had with Marco Verrigni a special relationship, despite the difference in d ' age. for me is and will remain an idol!

In these years you have followed the events of Virtue? What do you think?
We repeat, Molfetta's in my heart, so I always follow the story. When we were in C1 Molfetta I always thought that was the ideal place to make B2 a good championship, but I never expected that within two years the ambition was to make the A amateur championship a very difficult and expensive, one step from the pros! The public is very hot so Molfetta will happily accepted the chance to do this season by increasing the presence and proximity to the team and company, but difficulties still exist and can be seen. This year later there was even put the bad luck. By the way, even if you do not know him personally, I wish with all my heart to Lollo Di Marcantonio to recover and go back to playing as soon as possible!

Your season has started in Sarno. Then what happened? And how do you think will continue this year?
Unfortunately for me the luck I is not accompanying. I was at Sarno in C1 group H. I was the play
a respectable roster on paper, struggled to win the championship! Everything was going to great when, like a bolt from the blue, we are informed by the company's decision to surrender the league president of the serious economic problems. We were a good group of young but experienced. The company has decided what to avoid for months and did not take money, however, because league that has significant costs as necessary every 2 Domeniko go play in Sicily! Now I'm struggling with the termination of the contract and are ready to leave for a new adventure! Waiting and hoping for a C1!

What changes from a square as Molfetta, a square as the ones where you have been (in the field of pressure, warmth of the audience, objectives team, or other)?
Molfetta is a special place, because you can always breath such enthusiasm, you always from your audience and a company that makes you not miss anything. Elsewhere I found both heat and pressure of the public, but their goals were to change! Molfetta is a highly ambitious square, no limits, is unconventional, but serious at the same time! I do not want to be critical but recently made moves were risky, but I think they were still excessive generosity towards citizenship that gives a lot but it also demands a lot! Virtus Molfetta is pure passion (just look Scardigno cm Leonardo and Andrea Belifemmine live matches! Ahahahaha)

Tell us your typical day.
My days are always very intense, I fall asleep every day exhausted! Usually I wake up early, study a couple of hours (I miss 2 exams to graduate in legal science and management), then I go to or have weights or shot. After lunch, I plunged on books, after training and after dinner I find the time x out with my friends and my girl! If you do not study I spend my days listening to the music and reading books! At the end are not as serious as I describe! :-)

One last thing. What do you say to the fans molfettesi reading this interview?
molfettesi To the dear fans hope the best luck and happiness always the best follower Virtus! In good but especially in bad times. A Molfetta I had a fantastic year, and even if someone is wondering "Who is this Maurice Roll" I will remember you all in my heart, because we shared something great together. Continue to cheer Molfetta and maybe one day we can meet ... new to relive emotions!

Good luck and a big hug to everyone.
